Well into the year

We have finished the first nine weeks. My toughest troubles are getting anything done with the 8th grade band members, since I only see them for about 30 minutes total. It is very difficult to get any substance going with that short of a time. When they are done with their 30 minutes, they go away and the 7th graders stay in the room. I get another 20 minutes with them, and that is good, but I still have trouble getting anything done with any consistency.

My 6th grade music classes went okay, but I found out that I need to change the order of my unit of study so that they really learn what I want them to learn.

Summer is ending

School starts a week from tomorrow on August 2. I am not ready! I will be teaching band AND general music classes this year. I have not taught general music classes at the Middle School level for 15 years. I am pretty excited about it, but I need to get some major work done before next week!

I still think about West Africa every day and pray for those who are working to build relationships and spread "The Word" with the Fulani. The visit we made to Africa late last March has made an impact on my attitude about everything I do. I wish to return sometime and continue to tell Bible stories or do whatever God has for me.
